Faathima Mahomed

Advocate

Faathima Mahomed joined the Johannesburg Society of Advocates in December 2020 and  joined the Group in December 2023.  She holds B.Proc, LLB (post-graduate) and LLM degrees. Faathima is a general litigator and has experience and an interest in constitutional law, administrative law, commercial law, competition law and regulatory law.

Prior to joining the Bar, Faathima worked in public and commercial areas of law. She has extensive experience in constitutional and human rights law. Faathima worked at a regional human rights NGO, where her work focused on strategic litigation to advance women’s rights within the African regional human rights system. In the commercial area, she held the position of Group Legal Advisor at a company based in Durban. In this capacity, she drafted commercial lease agreements, works contracts for sub-contractors, company and shareholder resolutions. She also held corporate governance and due diligence responsibilities.

Faathima is a former Secretary-General of the National Association of Democratic Lawyers (NADEL).
